Why the model leans Prozorova

Prozorova's two Guangzhou wins came against tougher competition than Dart faced, and she earned them on serve. Across both rounds she won roughly 70% of her service points against players ranked in the No. 147 and No. 180-215 range, with her second serve (60% and then 58% of points won) doing real work. Her form over the last month backs that up: about 62% of serve points won, up from a 58.5% mark over the past 12 months, with double faults at just 3.4% of service points. Dart's own serve gain over the last month, about 58% of points won versus 54% across the year, still sits roughly four points behind Prozorova's.

There is also a recovery question the model had to weigh. Prozorova missed six days in late September with a concussion diagnosis she disputed, serving a restriction before giving a walkover. Since returning she is 4-2, with every match going three sets, including a win over Mayar Sherif and a three-set loss to Kamilla Rakhimova in Ningbo qualifying. Nothing in that stretch points to lingering impairment, which is why the layoff isn't treated as a red flag on its own.

The case for Dart

Dart's return game is the single best reason to respect the other side of this number. In her Guangzhou opener she won 48.5% of return points and converted 6 of 12 break points against a server who handed out seven double faults. In round two, against a second serve winning only 18% of its points, she ran up a 66% return-points rout (29 of 44). Against Prozorova's second serve, which has won 41-44% of points over the past year, that return is a live threat.

The catch is the level of competition behind those numbers. Dart beat a player with a 2026 best ranking near No. 616 and another near No. 259, and in doing so she was still broken five times by the weaker of the two. Her 12-month hard-court baseline (62% of service games held, 46% of return games won) is close to level with Prozorova's (67% and 39%), and her slightly better combined rate over the full season came against a softer average opponent, the 42nd percentile compared with Prozorova's 46th. The serve leak that let a No. 600 player break her five times hasn't gone anywhere.

The workload that worries the model

Prozorova has spent 4 hours and 14 minutes on court over her first two rounds in Guangzhou, all three-setters, against Dart's 3 hours and 17 minutes, roughly an hour less. Monday is the third straight day of play for both women, but that extra hour matters given how Prozorova tends to lose. Her defeats since the concussion, and before it, have come in three sets to steady, error-forcing baseliners: twice to Rakhimova and once to Kyoka Okamura in Suzhou. She also put up 26 unforced errors in a single set against Iga-level pressure from Eala earlier this year, a sign of how her high-risk hitting can unravel under a grind.

Dart's return game is exactly the kind of pressure that produces that grind. A player who gets 48% of return points and leans on her opponent's second serve is more likely to stretch a match into the long rallies and extra games where Prozorova's three-set losses have piled up. That is the swing factor working against the serve and schedule edge above, and it is close enough that the model stopped short of calling it a play.

The verdict

This is a PASS. The model's data lean points to Prozorova at -127, built on a cleaner, tougher-tested serve and no sign that her concussion layoff left a mark. But Dart's return game and the extra hour of rest heading into a third straight day of play are enough to keep this off the card. We are not backing either side on Monday's 5:00 AM ET match, and the specific reason it stopped short of a play isn't one we're spelling out here.
