Our Lanlana Tararudee vs Maya Joint prediction for Thursday, September 24, 2026 (9:00 PM ET) in Seoul comes with a clear label up front: this is an official PASS. The model's side is Tararudee, who sits at -139 on the moneyline, but it is not a bet we are making and there is no official action on it.

The reason to still write it up is that the matchup has a real tension in it. Tararudee has the better serve on paper. Joint has been the better returner in this tournament. Which of those wins out is the whole match.

Why the model is on Tararudee

The case starts with hard-court service numbers over the last 12 months. Tararudee holds 71% and breaks 37%. Joint holds 61% and breaks 36%. The break rates are nearly the same, so the gap is the hold: Tararudee protects her serve noticeably better, and in a match between two players who both break, that matters.

Opposition quality points the same way. Tararudee is 17-10 against stronger rated opposition than Joint has faced, while Joint is 18-17. Tararudee's first-serve delivery also carries more weight when it lands. In her two Seoul matches she won 75.6% of first-serve points, against 61.8% for Joint.

Her Seoul results are solid as well. She beat Sohyun Park 7-6(5), 6-0 in 96 minutes on September 23, after beating Moyuka Uchijima 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-2 in 137 minutes on September 21. That is 233 minutes of singles in the last two weeks, which is not heavy.

The case against Tararudee

The problem is her first-serve percentage. She landed 32 of 69 first serves (46.4%) against Park and 46 of 95 (48.4%) against Uchijima. Across the two matches that is 47.6%, which leaves a lot of second serves in play. On second serves she won 48.8% of points.

Joint is built to punish exactly that. Against Dayeon Back on September 23 she won 6-2, 6-1 in 64 minutes and took all 13 points on Back's second serve. That is return-point evidence, not proof she handles every second serve well, and Back was a mixed test at best. Still, the second-serve pressure is real, and it is the model's main risk on this side.

Tararudee's own hold numbers show the same weakness. She holds only 64% against the low-serve opponent category, so when the opponent leans on returns she gets pushed.

Form, workload and the recent record

Joint's annual numbers undersell her. Her season includes a verified lower-back injury break after Indian Wells and a return in May, and she reported the issue resolved in June. Her year-to-date record is 13-18, but over the last three months she is 11-7 and over the last month 4-2. Tararudee is 9-6 over three months and 3-1 over the last month. On recent form the two are closer than the season records suggest.

Joint's Seoul path was uneven. She needed 164 minutes to beat qualifier Xinxin Yao 2-6, 7-6(7), 6-3, was broken eight times, and won fewer total points than Yao. Then she dominated Back. Two wins do not establish a new level, and the model treats neither player as having found one.

Workload leans slightly toward Tararudee. Counting doubles, Joint has played four matches and 387 minutes over 14 days, while Tararudee has played three matches and 323 minutes. It is a modest edge, not a decider.

The number that matters

At -139 the market is also on Tararudee, so the price and the model agree on the side. That is not what decides the tier. This is a PASS on the official card, and we are not backing it.

The head-to-head adds little. Tararudee won the only meeting we have, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 on hard-court Porto in July 2024, but that is about 26 months old and carries almost no weight.

One pattern does tilt the read toward Tararudee. Joint has lost hard-court deciders after winning the opening set, including against Valentova, Liutova and Korpatsch. Her win over Cirstea in August shows that pattern is not inevitable, and Tararudee's own best recent wins were mixed in quality too.

The verdict

Verdict: PASS. The model's side is Tararudee because her hold rate and opposition record are better on hard courts, and her serve should get her through more often than not. Joint's second-serve return pressure and her recent form keep it honest. We are not backing this match, and there is no official action on it.
